Abandonment
Like many others, I no longer see any reason to keep this journal active, and will be closing down shop as soon as I get my entries archived. If you want to keep in contact with me, my AIM name and email are in my profile, and I am also updating at GreatestJournal.com, at this address: my GJ profile. It's been fun, but I don't really care for how things are being handled here.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Has it seriously been almost a month since I've written in this thing? Wow. Er... happy Independence Day, Americans. Enjoy your barbecues and whatnot.

And honestly... I'm finding it hard to believe so much time has passed. But then again, that's kind of how I feel when I realize that I'll be twenty years old next year. Just... boggledy.

Writer's Block: Words that you love and hate
What are your favourite and least favourite words? Any reasons why?

My answers:

Favourite: Abundance, cadence, sleep, deft, bell, onomatopoeia

Least favourite: Said, the

My reasons:

Abundance: Say it, now. ABUNdance. Lovely rhythm.

Cadence: Because few words make me smile and think fondly of marching band like this one does. I also read a novel by Holly Lisle? that has a female protagonist named Cadence Drake. You have to adore names like that.

Sleep: Because it's 8 AM and I've been up all night.

Deft: Deft is a word that doesn't crop up too often in your average fanfic or novel. It conveys a nice image, but like all of those rare words, it must be used cautiously.

Bell: See Cadence. No, seriously; this is one of my trigger words when used in the right phrase. Give me a good author who knows how to use his or her imagery, and I will fall in love with the words on their pages.

Onomatopoeia: COME ON. Also, I misspelled this word in a spelling bee. It's my bane.

Said: Said is a necessary evil. I hate using it in my writing, but you only get a number of "shouted" and "stated" and "yelled" before your prose falls flat on its over-verbose face.

The: Yet another "ick" word. Just have to be careful your sentences don't turn into repetitions of the cat and the mouse took the time to play on the hardwood floor before the cat dragged the rodent over to the piano, whereupon the feline devoured the helpless vermin. I mean, SNORE. And bore. And... ick.

Now, for sleep. The sweetest word of all.

My bullshit radar goes pingpingping...
The mail came. I got an envelope from Vector (no return address), and the enclosed text exactly as follows.

But I graduated in 2006... )

None of the bolded parts are formatted that way for emphasis. So. Scam?

ETA: Also, no website for further information was listed.

4 goals.
To be done by June 29th, in no particular order.

1) Lose 15 lbs.

2) Pay off all tickets and my cell phone bill.

3) Clean my room.

4) Get into the habit of writing again. At least 500 words a day, in my private journal, about anything. Can not be a regular journal entry.

There, that shouldn't be too hard?

Booored.
La di da. I've got a cold, but I'm getting over it. =D Plenty of rest and a good healthy dose of time in my pajamas will do that.

Aaanyway, the reason I posted: http://community.livejournal.com/crossover_hp/70267.html It's a Doctor Who/HP crossover. New Who, S3, set after Shakespeare Code, and included for this fantastic line: "I do believe that fifty-seven hundred fangirls just punched the air."

You won't admit you love me, and so...
How am I ever to know?!

Bah, I love Cake. That cover's so ridiculously fun. Anyway, I'm in the mood for fic. Fic that I can print off and take outside with me and read it while I bask, gloriously, in the sunshine and work on tanning freckling. Tanning bed tans look ugly.

The only problem is... I am having issues finding good quality Harry Potter genfic. Is the fandom simply too large? Am I looking for loff in all the wrong places? Or am I just retarded?

Either way, it's SO HARD WAH. Apparently I am a very picky reader; I was f'listing yesterday and caught [info]photosinensis's post about the same topic, and while I'm not as experienced as he is in fandom, I agree. I mean, is the fandom just too large to have a lot of lengthy, good quality fics in the same place any more? Have all the kerfluffles made the fen too split, too many factions to ever band together and say "HEY! GOOD FIC GOES HERE!"

I don't know. I'm lazy, tired, and bored of crawling through the internet in search of what I need.

Work, work, work...
So I got a job. Yay job!
I work as a telemarketer.

Less yay. :P Good days tend not to happen when you call people 8 hours straight. Still, it's a good job, because as someone put it: "It's perfect for you. You love to talk and make people try to like you." A little harsh, but apt.

I feel awful about neglecting this again. I've had a lot going on these past few months... and I meant to update! I meant to do more than I did, but that's how it always goes.

Anyway, my To Do List:

- find an apartment.

- be a CHEERFUL telemarketer.

- stop sucking as a person.

- find an effective way to stop sucking as a person instead of driving to Baltimore and hoping that my problems just kind of fix themselves.

- really, really, really find an apartment. If I live with my mother this summer, I will shoot myself.

- look into getting another job. I have 3 days off a week, that should be enough to get in some part-time hours.

- MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF MY MOM'S HOUSE. *flail*

- Maybe apply at Wal-Mart? Employee discount FTW?

I really never have much to say any more. Everyone always has the most interesting things to say and I'm just like, "Oh, ho hum, I wish it was March."

[info]nwcmwfan15 has gotten me hooked on Supernatural. I haven't seen -all- the episodes, but I'm craving fic right now, and I'm kind of spoiled for S1 anyway - if anyone watches SPN, feel free to link me goodfic. =)

As usual, I find myself rather speechless. So, um... I'm around. =(

Well...

Christmas and New Year's has come and gone.

I've stopped drinking. Day at a time, yeah? It's difficult (especially on campus - all anyone ever seems to talk about is the Greek parties), but life goes on.

I finally found someone for me and it was about damn time. He'll be here in March. I can't wait.

I haven't updated this because I am still an awful lazy sod. But I'm working on that too. (I cleaned my room yesterday. Partially. Under the bed and out of mind!)

Ob la dee, ob la da... la la la la life goes on.

Happy Late Thanksgiving!
To steal [info]christycorr's idea:

I'm thankful for guys in uniform.

I'm thankful for hellaciously good music.

I'm thankful for all the deals on clothes I'll be getting tomorrow, that are not gifts for anyone but ME.

I'm thankful for late dinners and good company. (The animals, not the people.)

I'm thankful for my ability to piss off all my family members with only a fewp hrases.

I'm thankful for my laptop, and the episodes of Doctor Who I have on it.

I'm thankful for wine, even if I said I wouldn't drink any more.

I'm thankful for the fact I only have to be here until Sunday.

Hope you guys had a great one.

Love,
Ash

Fucking History.
H-Tribe misspelled Lusitania. This bothers me more than it should. How did he get Lusitavian? Was he thinking of Octavian/Caesar Augustus, and just bolloxed it up in his head? What is going on?!?!

Drabble Meme, from nwcmwfan15

Every person on your f-list gets to request a drabble (no more than 500 words) from you. In return, they have to post this in their journal and write a drabble for you. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for.Your friends can pick a relationship, a story arc, a missing scene, commentary! Or pretty much anything they want, unless the author haspreviously mentioned that they will not write it. They comment with what they want, and you write drabbles and post it in your LiveJournal as a reply to their comment.

My fandoms: House, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Death Note (please nothing with Mello or Near.)

And no more than five requests per person, please! :D
